We have been running inline skating tours in the Mosel Valley since 2007. That alone should tell you the location is flat with well-maintained pavement.
The beautiful thing about the Mosel Valley as a bike tour location is the Germany government has created paved paths on both sides of the river for hundreds of kilometers. That means our new bicycle tour in the Mosel valley is flat, smooth, almost entirely down river, and without route directions.
But that is not all:
- There are tributary rivers and streams flowing into the Mosel that each have their own paved bicycle paths. While our short route heads downstream along the Mosel from hotel to hotel, our medium and long routes tackle these paths on side excursions, providing the right amount of distance for everyone.
- The food is surprisingly good, thanks in part to the multi-cultural aspect of the area. We stay the first night in Luxembourg and bicycle that day in France before heading into Germany.
- The Mosel valley is renowned for its wine and Germany, in general, is known for its beer. Both are excellent.
- The Mosel is simply stunning. The river makes big winding turns, has vineyards on both banks for much of the way, and is dotted with high castles and small villages.
We love our bicycle tours in Italy. Our new Sicily tour should be spectacular – but it is not going to be easy. So if biking on vacation is your thing but you prefer to leave the hills to others, join us on our Mosel Valley Biking Adventure!
