As a guide on our women-only trips, I get a front-row seat to something truly special. From the first hike to the last dinner, there’s a kind of energy that only comes when women come together to explore, challenge themselves, and share experiences. I love watching how quickly everyone opens up—laughing, swapping stories, offering encouragement, and sharing tips and tricks, all while seeing confidence grow in real time.
Outdoor Adventure Support
I’m constantly inspired by the way women support one another. First-time hikers often tackle challenging trails with a mix of nerves and determination, and by the end, they’re smiling, sharing tips, and helping others along the way.
As one guest said, “Perfect. A dream trip for a beginner or experienced hiker.” And the friendships that form are just as special: “The trip was a great opportunity to be in the outdoors hiking in beautiful surroundings with like-minded women from diverse geographical backgrounds, all of whom will, I am sure, stay in touch with each other.”
Conversations flow easily, and it’s amazing how quickly strangers become friends, bonding over shared challenges, breathtaking scenery, or even just the joy of a well-timed snack.
Gaining Confidence in the Outdoors
The adventures themselves provide unforgettable moments with mystic lakes, dynamic waterfalls, varied landscapes…but what makes these trips truly special is the human connection.
Guests have told us how much they appreciate both the experiences and the guides: “Both guides were outstanding. They not only made the trip more enjoyable with their knowledge and friendliness, but also gave us a real sense of security as we explored new trails and environments.”
Watching women gain confidence, whether it was from learning to read a map, mastering a new hiking skill, or simply enjoying a moment of quiet in nature, is the most rewarding part of what I do.
And let’s not forget the little joys: “The 5-star meals which were matched with goodies like an incredible picnic lunch, homemade vegan ice cream, and homemade guacamole,” which make every day feel indulgent, while laughter echoes across the trails: “Hearing Julie Rae’s laugh no matter where you were on the hike.”
Transformation, Celebration & Community
By the end of the trip, everyone leaves with tired legs, a full heart, and memories that will last a lifetime. It’s not just about hiking, food, or scenery. It’s about witnessing transformation, building community, and celebrating confidence in every woman on the trail. Being a guide on these trips isn’t just a job; it’s an honor to see women flourish in the outdoors, together. I cannot wait for our next women-only adventure in Bend, Oregon (and solo travelers enjoy a private room at no extra cost — no single supplement required)!
