For Women Only
Often when on vacation with a partner or family, women find themselves in the same roles as in their everyday lives—caregiver, family organizer, wife, mom—just in a new location. By traveling only with other women, you gain the genuine opportunity to be your true self and to relish treating yourself to that experience. Join us for this Introduction to Hiking for Women tour and enjoy shared experiences, empowerment, support, and a lot of fun. Solo travelers get their own private room at no extra cost. To discover more about the importance of women-only travel, head to the blog post Insight Into the Power of Women-Only Travel.
The Activities
Much of our activity takes place on or near the Deschutes River, which winds through town, or with background views of the Three Sisters, the white-capped mountains of the Cascade Range (the third, fourth, and fifth highest peaks in the state). The weather in Bend is part of the appeal, as it is east of the Cascade Mountains and thus gets much less rain than the western part of Oregon. Our days will start with energizing physical activity, followed by some downtime (perfect for shopping, strolling through town, or relaxing with a book), before enjoying a fun, curated activity most afternoons.
- Paddle your way to fun by kayaking or stand-up paddle boarding the sparkling Deschutes River
- Hike legendary Smith Rock with its jaw-dropping views
- Cruise the scenic trails of Sunriver on a breezy, beautiful bike ride
- Explore the trails of Mt. Bachelor with Three Sisters peaks, Broken Top, and Diamond Peak in the distance
- Stretch, breathe, and unwind with a feel-good group yoga session
Your Guides
Katie is passionate about animals, wild places, and adventure that inspires curiosity, builds confidence, and gets people outside their comfort zones. She loves helping others experience the world in a hands-on, meaningful way. Chances are, if she’s not working on trip details or tending to the farm, she’s out on a trail with her Catahoula dogs, Ben and Lucy.

The Town, Hotel, and Restaurants
Bend is more than just an outdoor playground, and you will have a chance to explore its vibrant town full of charm, comfort, and flavor. Downtown Bend and the nearby Old Mill District offer a blend of laid-back energy and stylish amenities, with boutique shops, craft breweries, and art-filled streets around every corner.
The Campfire Hotel in Bend is the perfect home base for our epic outdoor adventures! This boutique hotel provides edgy and fun accommodations while keeping community, design, and value at the forefront. It is a revamped motor lodge located a bit outside the city center, but the rooms are excellent, and the price allows us to offer free rooms to solo travelers on this tour.
When it comes to food, Bend punches well above its weight: think farm-to-table dining, wood-fired pizza, creative vegan spots, and some of the best craft beer in the country. Whether you’re sipping a post-hike IPA on a patio, grabbing lunch at a local favorite, Bend delivers the perfect balance of rugged and refined.

DAY 1
We meet in Bend just after lunch, giving you time to arrive that day. If you prefer a more leisurely travel schedule, you can arrive ahead of time and enjoy a free morning before we meet. We kick off our adventure with a charming walking tour through Bend’s vibrant Whitewater Park and bustling Old Mill District, soaking in the sights and river views. After checking into our hotel, we’ll unwind and connect over wine and refreshing non-alcoholic drinks crafted by local women-owned businesses, perfect for setting the mood before we walk to dinner at Laughing Planet.
DAY 2
This morning, we head towards Smith Rock State Park, famous in the state and the country for its rock climbing, but also offering excellent hiking trails. We'll hike along the Crooked River, which makes an incredible horseshoe bend around the park, with excellent views of the 400-foot rock spires that are so beloved by climbers. For a tougher workout, you can hike up the Summit Trail, from which you can get excellent views of the park below and the Cascades off in the distance in the west. On our way back to Bend, we'll stop in the small town of Redmond, where you can walk the western main street and grab lunch. After lunch, we will head back to our hotel for a quick change as we head to the Deschutes River that rolls right through the center of Bend. You have the option to kayak (single or tandem), canoe, or stand-up paddleboard on the placid waters while admiring the city from the river. You can even try more than one activity if you can get someone to switch with you! After our activity and some downtime, we'll enjoy dinner at the Deschutes Bend Public House.
Hiking Distances: 1.8, 3.7 or 7.3 miles
DAY 3
Today, we’re headed to Sunriver for a day of biking along more than 40 miles of scenic paved paths. There’s always plenty to see and explore! Whether you prefer a leisurely, easy ride or want to challenge yourself with longer distances, the trails offer options for every skill level to enjoy at your own pace. You will have time to enjoy lunch on your own in Sunriver and walk around the small town. Once we're back in Bend, we'll enjoy a yoga session led by a local, women-owned business. Tonight you will have a chance to go to one of the many great restaurants in Bend for dinner.
DAY 4
We will spend the morning hiking the Pine Marten Lodge Loop around Mt. Bachelor. You’ll have time to explore Mt. Bachelor, where you can take in views of up to 10 Cascade peaks from the summit, including the iconic Three Sisters and Mount Hood. In the afternoon, we will return home for a few hours before we head out to whitewater river rafting on the upper Deschutes River. The rafting is short but fun and gives us a different view of the river than we had previously. Our final dinner will be at Drake, where a diverse menu of flavorful American-style dishes includes plenty of vegan and vegetarian options, making it the perfect place for everyone to savor creative, fresh bites paired with craft cocktails.
Hiking Distances: 2, 4 or 7.5 miles
DAY 5

After breakfast, we will hit the trails together one last time to see two breathtaking waterfalls: Tumalo Falls and Double Falls. We will have time to shower and check out before an optional shuttle to Redmond Airport.

Weather
June and July are ideal months to be outdoors in Central Oregon. The average high temperature during the day in Bend this month is in the upper 70s, while nights get down on average to the low 40s. There are only an average of four to five days of rain in the months and there will still be snow in the hills.
Extending Your Stay
We believe Oregon likely packs more outdoor adventures into its borders than perhaps any other state. Portland, Oregon is an interesting mid-sized city well worth exploring. One nice option is to fly into Portland, rent a car, and make the three-hour drive to Bend, perhaps stopping at Mount Hood on the way. Crater Lake, Oregon is only two hours south of Bend and is one of the premier national parks in the state. Eugene, home to the University of Oregon and 2.5 hours west of Bend, is an amazing small city with a great downtown area, a nearby wine region, and lots of trails. If you have the extra time, the Pacific Ocean makes for a fantastic vacation!
