If you are into wine, you may already know what the WSET acronym stands for. If not, here is the quick answer: Wine & Spirit Education Trust. WSET is a prestigious educator in
the world of wine and spirits and provides highly sought-after qualifications for wine and spirit professionals, such as our own Zephyr Adventures and Taste Vacations guide, Jenny Siddall (pictured above).
Jenny is a Brit who lives in Spain and runs her own wine tourism company. She also guides many of our Zephyr trips around the world. (She is currently in Chile and Argentina preparing for a private Zephyr group of 16 wine lovers to arrive!)
Jenny recently passed her level 3 WSET exam (having previously achieved her levels 1 & 2), which although it involves tasting a lot wine, is actually a grueling certification to acquire. This internationally recognized wine certification focuses on the world’s diverse wine regions: France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Central and South Eastern Europe, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand, North America, South and Central America.
Her wine education coursework included (in part) a detailed and comprehensive analysis of grapes and wine styles produced around the world, including what influences their style, quality and price. Another component included tastings, swirlings and pairings of dozens of different wines, sparkling wines and fortified wines.
What does this mean for you? Jenny, already very capable of answering all of your wine questions, will now be able to delve even deeper into the topic for you!
If you are a wine lover, consider joining Jenny on the following trips in 2015:
• Taste Vacation in Spain: Basque Country & La Rioja (July 12 – 17)
• Spain Hike, Bike, Food & Wine Adventure (August 30 – September 4)
• Taste Vacation in Chile & Argentina (October 31 – November 8)
Very impressive! Hope to join on a future trip!
We’d love to have you join us, Linda!
