Chances are “beer” and “tourism” are two words you’ve likely never put together. When you travel, you likely put high consideration on the destination, sights, perhaps the food, and if you’re a Zephyr traveler, then you certainly consider the activities offered in the area.
Beer Tourism may not be a buzz word yet, but we want to stress the yet. As the popularity for craft beer explodes, so do the opportunities to experience and focus on craft beer while traveling.
For those of us here at Zephyr Adventures, we always loved traveling that incorporated our favorite activities and beer; adding in a few beer-focused tours to our calendar has been a natural fit for us. Our Yellowstone & Grand Tetons Multisport Beer Adventure – in its third year now – is becoming one of our most popular tours.
This summer, we have decided to expand on our Beer Tour offerings and have added a Belgium Hike, Bike & Beer Adventure.
If you’re into craft beer, then a beer-focused trip to Belgium should definitely be on your list of must dos. The history of beer in Belgium helps tell the story of the roots of the craft beer movement, and beer helps tell the story of Belgium.
Our trip through Belgium has us visiting abbeys and breweries and exploring the intertwined aspects of its modern beer culture and its rich and storied past. We will walk the city of Brussels, bike past ancient landscapes, and hike on the country trails in the smaller villages – all while exploring and learning and tasting Belgium beer.
With over 180 breweries in operation in Belgium today, that would equate to over 65 per square mile if distributed equally! While we not get to visit each one during this beer tour of Belgium, we will all certainly come away with a greater understanding and appreciation for the art of brewing and the country that has inspired it.
