We at Zephyr Adventures generally run tours for groups of people who don’t know each other before they arrive. Sure, many of our travelers are repeaters and will know others on their next tour. But many people arrive on a tour not knowing anyone at all.
We love that. Combining groups of fun, interesting people who together have an incredible vacation experience is our raison d’être.
At the same time, we recognize that some people prefer to travel with others whom they know. Even our experienced alumni can appreciate the advantages of traveling with your own friends and family.
For that reason, we have a number of options for Private Adventures – adventures in which we create a vacation just for you and your fellow travelers. If this is of interest to you, here are a few options you might consider:
Create your own private tour for a group of 10 or more. We have done this for birthday parties, groups of friends, and social clubs. It isn’t always easy to get a group of 10 together but it can be extremely rewarding to do one of our regular tours with all your own friends or family. See alumnus Christine Hung’s blog post about her private adventure for more details.
- Consider taking a self-guided vacation in Europe. Self-guided travel is a hybrid between doing it yourself and joining an organized tour. You pick the date, the location, and the tour. You also find your own traveling companions, often simply one other person. We arrange the hotels, provide the route directions and bicycle (if a biking tour), transport your luggage each day, and meet you upon your arrival at the tour location. You are then off on your own. With no guides or van support but with a basic structure in place, this is a perfect option for adventurous, capable travelers who don’t want to do all the planning themselves. See our separate Zephyr Self-Guided Adventures website for details.
- Ready for a real adventure? Book one of our private treks in Peru or up Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. This is a bit different from both our private adventures and self-guided adventures, in that a) you can have a group as small as two and pick your own date, ala self-guided adventures but b) you still get all the benefits of a guided private tour, including local transport and a local guide. The only thing we don’t do with these private treks is send an American Zephyr Adventures guide, since the group is so small. However, our local guides will take care of you the whole time and you’ll have them all to yourself. Just pick a date, pick your location, and we’ll do the rest. Check out our pages on the Inca Trail Treks to Machu Picchu in Peru and the hike up Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.
So whether you consider joining one of our standard group tours or doing something on your own, you have plenty of options with Zephyr Adventures!
