We are very excited about our October 2 – 5, 2025 Iowa Inline Skating & Biking Adventure. In case you have some hesitation about vacationing in Iowa, I am writing here to get you excited too.
Our inline skating and biking travelers know what I am going to say whenever we announce a new inline skating and biking tour. After all, there is a reason we pick our two skate tour locations each year. We look for hundreds of miles of paved, flat, car-free trails that are perfect for skaters and, thus, ideal for bikers who like more relaxed biking tour locations.
Iowa has this, with 2,500 miles of bike trails, including hundreds of miles of concrete trails (the ideal surface for skaters) in the greater Des Moines area where we run our tour. The trails are mostly flat and almost entirely separated from roadways. Even better, most of the trails are connected, such that our skaters can skate for five days in a row with only one shuttle and bikers can do the entire route without a shuttle. So, yes, the skating and biking are idyllic and Iowa is perhaps the best skate tour location right now in North America.
But there is so much more to this tour than just the skating. We stay two nights in the cute small town of Pattee in the refurbished, historic Hotel Pattee. The hotel has a bowling alley in its basement, an upscale restaurant, and is a perfect location for a Zephyr tour. We then spend two nights in a second refurbished historic hotel, this time in the city of Des Moines, which has got paved trails on both sides of the river cutting through town and a fun walking district with bars and restaurants.
Before checking out our Iowa tour in person, I had never spent one night in Iowa. So I really didn’t know much other than what I had read online. I was quite impressed. Yes, the skating and biking routes are amazing. But the scenery is really beautiful, the people are incredibly welcoming, and there is much more to see and do in Iowa than I ever expected.
Come join us in Iowa for our Iowa Inline Skating & Biking Adventure!
