We have run our Croatia multisport tour multiple times to rave reviews. People love the beautiful coastline, the romantic whitewashed towns, and the combination of activities including biking, hiking, and kayaking. And they love our local guides. So when our local Croatian partner told us he had been thinking about doing a multi-country tour of the Balkan region, we jumped at the idea. The result is a nine-day tour that hits parts of Croatia, Montenegro, and Albania.
You can join us May 5 – 13, 2024 on a group public tour or book this tour on your own as a private tour with eight or more travelers.
Rather than go into detail on each country and the tour (you can read the tour page for that), I thought I would highlight one aspect of the tour from each country.
Dubrovnik, Croatia
Dubrovnik is considered the top tourist destination of the entire Balkan peninsula. The highlight is the old town. Ancient city walls ring the town and you can actually walk the two-kilometer circumference. The cobble-stone streets and whitewashed or terracotta homes create a romantic feeling. Large car-free roads with open-air cafes and pubs give you plenty of reasons to stop and watch the passersby.

And this is all just in the old town. We also get out of the small city and hike up to Mount Srd for amazing views of the coastline. The following day we will kayak the blue waters of the Adriatic as we tool around the small Elaphiti islands. Dubrovnik truly is amazing and a great way to start our tour.
Kotor, Montenegro
Kotor is situated on a bay that juts inland from the Adriatic Sea and has mountains rising from the town above. The city is much smaller and less-visited than Dubrovnik but still offers a fun old town and ancient city walls. It provides a more authentic experience that is perfect for a change from busy Dubrovnik.

From Kotor we’ll take a cable car up to Lovcen National Park and go hiking around the area. We’ll bicycle some of the backroads near the town. You can even choose to walk the 1,350 steps up to St. John’s fortress above town. And we’ll dine in outdoor cafes and wander the streets of old town.
Theth, Albania
Theth is considered to be one of the most picturesque locations in all of Albania, thanks to situation at the base of Theth National Park. At only 10 square miles, the park is tiny compared to the huge national parks in the western US. However, it packs in the wonders, with jagged peaks, green valleys, and rushing streams. Read reviews about the park and they all rave, calling it one of the best on the Balkan Peninsula.

There are multiple fantastic hikes in the park and we’ll choose one based on the group, with options for both shorter and longer distances.
Those are just three of the many experiences on this nine-day Croatia, Montenegro, and Albania Adventure that we hope you will join in 2025!
