One of the best parts of our job at Zephyr Adventures is getting the opportunity to meet such wonderful and interesting people. We love hearing about where people are from, the places they’ve traveled, and the experiences they’ve had. With Father’s Day approaching, we thought we would highlight a great Father/Son pair – Gerald and Nick Pribyl (aka The Pribyl Boys). Every year, they take a different trip together. We were lucky enough to meet them on our Yellowstone Multisport and Beer Adventure a few years ago.
We recently caught up with them to ask about their travels together, here’s what they had to say:
What motivated you to start taking these trips together every year?
It’s easy to make time for these types of adventures when you enjoy each other’s company and want to conquer new adventures together.
What made you choose the Yellowstone Multisport and Beer Adventure trip? The Pribyl Boys try to do a father-son adventure every year. The variables we like to modify each year are the location and the activities. Jerry was informed of this particular adventure package due to being on an email distribution list with thrillist.com. This email was forwarded on and the discussion and investigation began.
What’s been your favorite destination so far? Our favorite destination and experience thus far has been multi-day fishing adventures out of Craig, Alaska. In 2015, we will be making our first trip to the Kenai Peninsula to further expand our multi-day fishing experience and sharpen are fishing skills (example: go the entire trip without either of us getting a birds nest in the reel).
What’s next on your travel bucket list? Each adventure is planned year to year. The bucket list includes a shark cage diving adventure and a California wine country tour and golf outing. Our bucket list items are comprised of activities both of us are interested in but neither of us would want to experience without the other.
As new adventure opportunities are identified, like the Yellowstone Multisport and Beer Adventure (YMBA), they go through an intensive evaluation program to see if they meet the Pribyl Boys expectations for adventure and drinking. In the case of the YMBA, it was an excellent choice but the agility and planning demonstrated by the guides is every bit as important as the experience with the activities. Fortunately for us, our guides were ninjaesque backcountry adventure boozing experts!
Awww gee thanks guys! We wish the Pribyl Boys continued fun, laughter, booze, and adventure on their travels together – and hope to see them on a Zephyr trip again soon!
If you’re looking for a great family vacation, join us on one of our upcoming public tours, or if you have a larger family or group (most trips require usually ten or more), book your own private trip!
