People travel for a number of different reasons: to hike in a different mountain chain they’ve never been to before; to experience, first hand, a different way of life; to eat and drink like a local. The burgeoning craft beer scene in the United States affords the beer enthusiast who likes to travel the opportunity to do all of the above AND meet (and taste!) with leaders in the American beer world.
Just like those interested in wine, beer tourists are interested in the process, the back story, and how the frosty beverage gets from tank to tap. There is a vein of education pulsing through the beer world – the combination of art and science it takes to make the perfect Pilsner or the smoothest Chocolate Stout isn’t child’s play. How does one exactly “Travel For Beer” in today’s day and age? On a beer oriented, multi-day trip through beer country with Zephyr Adventures, of course!
Zephyr Adventures’ beer travelers have the chance to meet with personalities and thought leaders in the beer world on our Yellowstone and Grand Tetons Multisport & Beer Adventure as well as in Europe on the epic Belgium Bike and Beer Adventure and Taste Tours. Rob Mullin, Brewmaster and COO of Grand Teton Brewing Company in Victor, ID (about 30 miles from Jackson, Wyoming) welcomes his guests with a huge smile and an obvious enthusiasm for his fermented beverage of choice. One Zephyr beer alumni commented that Rob’s panache and ability to communicate his love of beer turned her from an “occasional beer drinker” to a “regular beer drinker” who will “be adding a bottle or two alongside my wine into my cart when I visit my local shop.”
Rob also highlights the stunning backdrop of the Teton Range of the Rocky Mountains that frame his brewery in the background, as the icing on the cake to his business. The natural playground of this area affords Zephyr travelers the ability to combine their interest in beer with hiking, biking, and whitewater rafting. The Yellowstone & Grand Tetons Beer Adventure should be called, “Will Exercise Daily For That Pint of Beer.”
Beer tourism takes on a different meaning on our newest beer vacations, the Belgium Bike, Hike, & Beer Adventure and the Belgium Taste Tour. Since the first Crusades the church allowed abbeys to brew and distribute beer as a fund raising method in Belgium. Trappist monks carry on those deep traditions with their dark, complex ales. Beer travelers not only learn about the distinctive styles made in Belgium but also hundreds of years of cultural history that have made for deep, and oftentimes, religious beer roots.
There is something new and exciting to learn about one of earth’s oldest beverages at every turn, whether in the U.S. or abroad. Become the beer tourist you’ve always wanted to be. We promise, “Will Travel For Beer” is an absolutely tasty way to see the world.
