“Nature is one of the most underutilized treasures in life. It has the power to unburden hearts and reconnect to that inner place of peace.” – Janice Anderson

Slovenia is a small but intriguing country. It offers a wide variety of diverse landscapes, including rushing rivers, gorgeous valleys, charming villages, dense forests, and soaring mountain peaks – all within a country about half the size of Switzerland! In fact, due to its small stature and ever-changing scenery, it is known as “Europe in Miniature”. Formerly a part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire until WWI, Slovenia may be “young” in terms of being an independent country but it has an incredibly rich and complicated history and culture, about which its citizens are deeply proud. On this adventure, we will be exploring Slovenia from top to bottom – as in from mountain tops to river gorge bottoms! Throughout our journey, we will hike up mountain trails to breathtaking overlooks, picnic next to stunning waterfalls, navigate narrow gorge paths, ramble through exquisite vineyards, and even raft down the crystal blue waters of the Soca River. Additionally, we will take a break from our travels to taste some of the local flavors, including craft beer, ciders, wines, and cuisine.

Daily Itinerary

DAY 1: Welcome to Slovenia! You have the option of meeting your Zephyr guides at the Ljubljana airport (LJU) or in the lobby of our host hotel just around 1:00 pm. After short introductions, we will head out on an exploratory walk to the Vintagar Gorge, one of the most extraordinary natural wonders in Slovenia. Be sure to bring a rain jacket as we will be walking on boardwalks through narrow and dramatic ravines, above the rushing Radovna River. We return to the hotel to dry off and change before meeting on the beautiful lawn near Lake Bled and walking to our fabulous welcome dinner in the medieval Bled Castle….SEE FULL ITINERARY
