Oregon is not unknown in the wine world. It is the fourth-largest wine producing state in the US, has the third most wineries of any state, and has won many awards, especially for its renowned Pinot Noirs.

However, Oregon is still in its infancy as far as wine tourism. And that makes our tour in Oregon special.

We spend five days in Oregon, visiting wine regions ranging from Eugene to the northern Willamette Valley to the Hood River appellation. This is a Multisport Tour and we visit the wine regions by walking, bicycling, and canoeing. Most of these activities are not currently organized or available in the Oregon wine country outside our tour. We have created unique vineyard walks, arranged a canoe trip on the Willamette River with a stop at a local winery, and planned a bike route through the Hood River region running down the lower slopes of Mount Hood.

And Oregon's wine country is unique. It is spread over thousands of acres and dominated by small, family-run wineries. Each owner/vintner we meet has a great story and we will hear many of them as we try the local Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, and Riesling wines. You will be in the vanguard of active wine tourism if you join us in Oregon.

Special Note: Boulder Wine Merchant
This tour is being run in conjunction with Boulder Wine Merchant, one of the best specialty wine stores in Boulder, Colorado.  What does this mean for you?  A number of the attendees will likely be from the Boulder area.  Plus, the Boulder Wine Merchant might send one of its knowledeable wine staff to join us on the tour, in which case you will essentially have an extra wine guide on the trip at no additional cost.

Accommodations
We start our week by staying in a fantastic B&B in the center of Eugene, the Excelsior Inn. Eugene is home to the University of Oregon and is the hub of the southern Willamette Valley wine area. We then move to the heart of Oregon's wine area in the central and northern areas of the Valley, staying in the Phoenix Grand Hotel in Salem for two nights. The Phoenix is the newest and best hotel in Salem, the capital city of Oregon. Our final night is at the Columbia Gorge Hotel, a grand historic hotel located on the banks of the Columbia River. The hotel is situated in the fun, outdoors-oriented town of Hood River, also home to the up-and-coming Hood River appellation.
