Glacier National Park in the northern section of Montana is one of the premier national parks in the United States. In fact, it is known as the "Crown Jewel" of the Rocky Mountains. For hikers, it is especially rewarding and was rated the Number One National Park by Backpacker Magazine.

We define "hiking" as daylong walks in mountainous areas. You do not need to carry more than a daypack with water, snacks, and extra clothes. We stay in national park lodges and transport your gear by van. You are free to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Glacier National Park.

We meet you in the morning on Day One in Whitefish, Montana, which is a very cool mountain town. We shuttle to Glacier National Park and hike along a rushing river to a beautiful alpine lake. That evening we check into our lakeside lodge.

On Day Two, we mix it up by doing an easy six-mile hike along the Flathead River before embarking on a half day river rafting trip. River rafting is a great way to get some thrills while seeing the backcountry of the area.

On Day Three, we drive higher into the Rocky Mountains, the backbone of Glacier National Park, on Going to the Sun road. At the top, we get out for a daylong hike in the high mountain scenery. Because we are starting at the pass, the ascents are not super steep and we also have two routes of different distances from which you can choose. After the hike, we drive down the other side of the pass and on to Many Glacier Lodge.

On Day Four we have a "hiker's choice" day, where you can choose your own trail (with our guidance). You might choose a strenuous hike up to Ptarmigan Tunnel or a more moderate hike to the amazing views of Iceberg Lake. Whatever you choose will be wonderful as the entire Many Glacier area is magnificent. You can also opt to rent canoes or kayaks and paddle on Swiftcurrent Lake to take a break from hiking.

Our final day we shuttle back to the Kalispell Airport and stop for a short hike along the way.

You will have two Zephyr guides on this trip plus, on two separate days, professional Glacier Park mountain guides. These local guides are extremely knowledeable about the area's flora, fauna, and geography. You can plan to see wildflowers, big horned sheep, mountain goats, and perhaps even grizzly bear.

Accommodations
We stay two nights each at two historic Glacier National Park lodges. Our first two nights we are at Lake McDonald Lodge, nestled among the trees and overlooking beautiful Lake McDonald.  Our third and fourth nights we spend in Many Glacier Lodge, a large five-story resort hotel built in 1915 and situated on Swiftcurrent Lake in proximity to excellent hiking. Both hotels are perfect for relaxing in the evening after a day of hiking.
