Inline Skating on Nantucket and Martha's VineyardNantucket & Martha's Vineyard Skating
Frequently Asked Questions

We will send you detailed information about the Adventure in a Pre-Departure Packet once you register.

What is the weather going to be like?
The high temperature in June during our tour date is a pleasant 68 degrees Fahrenheit on the islands, while the overnight low only gets down to 54 degrees. June is also the least-rainiest month on the islands, with an average of only four days of rain in the month. Expect pleasant days for skating, warm evenings, and mostly clear skies.

Which time of the year is best to go there?
We much prefer Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard during the shoulder months of May, June, September, and October when the weather is good but the crowds are low.

What is the best way to get to the Adventure and where do we meet?
We will provide detailed information about getting to the islands in our Pre-Departure Packet that you will receive upon booking. We start the tour on Nantucket and depart from Martha's Vineyard. The easiest way to get there is to fly to our first island and fly home from the second. This is a bit more expensive but, in our opinion, definitely worth it. The only other way to get to the islands is by ferry. There are two ferry services and a handful of possible routes.

What should I do if I want to extend my vacation in the area?
Many of our travelers spend an extra day on the islands before or after the Adventure. Staying an extra day or two is a great and relaxing way to finish your vacation. Another option for those flying to the area is to spend a bit of time in the gateway city of Boston. If you are driving, Cape Cod offers many small towns and resort hotels although, in our opinion, once you have seen the islands there is no reason to spend time on Cape Cod.

What ability level do I really need to be for this Adventure?
The trip is rated For All Abilities. The skating and biking is almost entirely on paved traffic-free paths and the area is mostly flat. There are a few short but steep hills on Martha's Vineyard but we warn you about these so you can stop and walk if you like.  If you are skating, you do need to be able to stop.

For what type of people would you recommend this tour?
This is one of our most luxurious tour locations. We don't ever lose sight of our roots as a casual and fun company but, on average, the standard of the hotels and restaurants is higher on this tour than on most of our others. If you like your comforts but still want to get some exercise, this is the trip for you.  Additionally, this Adventure is perfect for groups where one person wants to skate and another wishes to bicycle.
