Glacier National Park Frequently Asked Questions
We will send you detailed information about the Adventure in a Pre-Departure Packet once you register.
What is the weather going to be like?
Glacier National Park has widely varying weather due to differing
altitudes. Whitefish, the closest city for which we have
historical weather data, has an average high temperature in the summer
months of 79 degrees Fahrenheit with an average low of 48-49
degrees. It does rain in the park in the summer,
approximately once every four or five days on average. So,
expect mostly clear and sunny weather but be prepared for colder
temperatures and possible rainstorms.
What is the best way to get to the tour and where do
we meet?
We
meet in the Montana city of Whitefish. The local Glacier Park
International Airport in Kalispell is served by five airlines including
direct
flights from Seattle (Alaska/Horizon), Minneapolis (Northwest), and
Salt Lake City (Delta). We meet at 9:30 am the first day so
you
should plan to drive or fly in the night before.
What should I do if I extend my vacation in the area?
Montana
is a large and fantastic state. In addition to Glacier
National
Park, it is definitely worth visiting Yellowstone National Park or the
fun cities of Bozeman and Missoula if you have the time. We
suggest you rent a car at the Glacier Park International Airport if you
plan to extend your stay.
What ability level do I really need to be for this
Adventure?
This Adventure is rated Moderate.
No experience is necessary, everything is optional, and we have
multiple hiking routes of varying difficulty. The altitude should not
be an issue as we do not get to a very high altitude on the trip.
However, this is a Hiking Adventure so you should be prepared for day
hikes with some elevation change.
For what type of people would you recommend this
Adventure?
This trip is perfect for those wishing to see the backcountry of one of
America's best national parks without having to carry a pack or sleep
in a tent. The trip is oriented to people of all ages; families are
welcome.
