Napa & Sonoma Hike & Bike Adventure
Frequently Asked Questions
We will send you detailed information about the Adventure in a Pre-Departure Packet once you register. (Note: photo credit Robert Janover, www.sonomacountry.com.)
What is the weather going to be like?
October is
shoulder season in California wine country. The days are still usually
pleasant with highs in the lower 70s but nights can get cool and there
is some chance of rain. However, the vineyards are beautiful and the
crowds are sparse, so it is an excellent time to visit.
What is the best way to get to the Adventure and
where do we meet?
We will meet you at San Francisco International Airport after lunch and
make the 1.5-hour drive to Sonoma and the start of our tour. We will
drop you off in San
Francisco at the airport at the end of the trip in time to fly home that day. If you
will be driving or arriving
early, we'll meet you directly at our Sonoma hotel where you can
leave your car for the week.
See San Francisco! San Francisco is a fantastic city worth a few days of your time. Other things you might want to do in the area (involving a car) are driving up the northern Pacific coast, spending some time in the Sierra Nevada mountains, or visiting Yosemite National Park.
Do I need to be a wine expert to enjoy this tour?
You definitely don't need to be a wine expert to enjoy this tour. In
fact, you don't even need any knowledge of wines at all. All you need
is an open mind, an ability to discern what you like and don't like,
and an adventurous spirit. Even if you are a non-drinker, the biking
and hiking routes and scenery are outstanding and you can easily skip the winery
visits.
What ability level do I really need to be for this
Adventure?
This tour is rated For All Abilities.
No experience is necessary at all. Many of the biking routes have
few hills and you can jump in the van when necessary. You will also have various options for most of the hikes.
Everyone. Couples will love the romantic scenery. Sophisticates will enjoy the food and wine. Adventurers will love being out on the backroads and trails of Napa and Sonoma Counties, where most visitors never get.
