I am a longtime alumnus and fan of Zephyr Adventures. I have been on many Zephyr tours in many countries. About two years ago, I approached Zephyr owner, Allan Wright, about organizing a private tour for my milestone birthday. My goal was to plan an amazing trip with friends!
Friends Friends Friends
I put a list together of friends, both old and new, that I thought would enjoy an amazing trip, love to laugh, be active, and take pleasure in great food and wine. I ended up closing the tour at a maximum of 16 people. Of those 16 individuals, seven had been on previous Zephyr tours, and four were friends I made on previous Zephyr tours.
The Destination
I wanted the tour to be a biking tour that abilities of all levels would be able to join. Allan really worked with me in deciding what fit best for this particular trip. I discussed various possibilities with several of the Zephyr guides and listened to their suggestions. In the end, Giovanni convinced me that Puglia, Italy was the right choice. It was in Europe and was located in a place that no one had ever been before. The thought of biking along the coast of Southern Italy in the off season and getting to experience the food and wine in that region really appealed to me.
Exercise, Eat and Drink with Like-minded People
As I mentioned, four of the people going on the private tour were folks that I met on previous Zephyr tours. I find that the reason cherished friends are found on Zephyr tours is because Zephyr tours bring together like-minded people who enjoy the same hobbies. For me, those hobbies are travel, being active, enjoying great food and wine, and being around great friends. By organizing a private tour, my friends and I get to enjoy all these things together.
Details Details Details
Of all the active/adventure tour companies available, why did I choose Zephyr? It is all about the people and the details. I have yet to meet a Zephyr guide that I would not want to spend time with outside of the tour. Just like the Zephyr tour participants, some of the Zephyr guides have become really close friends over the years. Additionally, the details that the guides put into the trip are incredibly impressive. And although I have been on several Zephyr tours, I am continually in awe of what a dynamic experience you get for your money.
I am already looking forward to my next private Zephyr Adventure! If you have never thought of organizing a private tour, I encourage you to do so! It’s a great way to catch up with your friends and experience the world in a whole new dimension!
