“I never knew of a morning in Africa when I woke up and was not happy.” – Ernest HemingwayImagine waking up in the heart of the Serengeti. You’re surrounded by the beauty of the wild savannah and the distinctive sounds of the African bush. A herd of impala graze quietly nearby as you relax in an amazing camp- outfitted with a comfortable bed and private bathroom. This is just a peek at what you can expect from the safari of a lifetime. The perfect combination of rugged, wild and comfortable, your Serengeti safari begins with an exploration of Tarangire National Park where we’ll spend the afternoon looking for baboons and tree-climbing lions. A morning game drive is followed by a visit to the famous Oldupai Forge, where the Leakeys spent 40 years studying the origins of man. Then we’re on to the Ngorongoro Crater. Recognized as the largest intact caldera on the planet, and often referred to as the Eighth Wonder of the World, it’s also home to a staggering animal population. In fact, a permanent population of more than 30,000 animals occupy the relatively small 100 square mile area and you’ll enjoy a game drive into the crater itself.
DAY 1: We change gears as we put away our trekking clothing and personas and take on the role of Serengeti safari explorer.
